Microchipping is compulsory for cats

Microchipping for cats is now a legal requirement in England as of June 10, 2024

Under the new regulations, cats must be microchipped before they reach 20 weeks of age, with the owner's contact details registered and kept up to date on an approved pet microchipping database. Owners who fail to comply will have 21 days to microchip their cat or face a fine of up to £500.
